Summer Sundays are now for outdoor dining and shopping in Oak Bluffs. Through September 6th, Circuit Avenue and Kennebec Avenue are closed to traffic from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This allows businesses the chance to offer customers more options, whether shopping or dining. It’s a smart pivot for Summer 2020 and a welcome addition to our We Love MV series. WE LOVE MV: MV Masquerade Outdoor Dining And Shopping In Oak Bluffs.
WE LOVE MV: MV Masquerade Outdoor Dining And Shopping Only On Sundays In Oak Bluffs
With the two main streets in town closed, islanders and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the shops and restaurants of Oak Bluffs without the usual summer crowding on the sidewalks.
Restaurants have tables outside, adding valuable and much needed additional seating, and many shops have tables or racks outside as well. You can even find local artists set up too.
WE LOVE MV: MV Masquerade Outdoor Dining And Shopping – Exploring Outdoor Shops
I have to admit that I really enjoyed the added space that having the streets closed provides. Shopping feels more comfortable, and it was nice to be able to connect with shop owners, like Jennifer and her daughter Bella from C’est la Vie.
Jen said that the Sunday street closings have really given business a much needed boost. It was easy to see that people were enjoying themselves, masked up and all. It was also nice for me to see some of the things shops have this season. I love the sweatshirt poncho from C’est la Vie — perfect for cooler Vineyard nights.
It also gives people the chance to see some new additions to Oak Bluffs, like Tangerine. Sarah Omer’s new store offers an eclectic collection of great treasures. From local artists to really cool beach bags made from recycled oyster bags to one of a kind finds, Tangerine is a must to stop by.
WE LOVE MV: MV Masquerade Outdoor Dining And Shopping – Restaurant Options
With outdoor dining being the great option for so many, Sundays are the day to visit the restaurants of Oak Bluffs! You’ll find additional seating for Dilly’s Taqueria at The Ritz, Gio’s, Sharky’s, Dos Mas, Offshore Ale, Red Cat, Seaweed’s and more!
You may even find someplace new, like Sarah Brown’s. Sarah Brown is a name steeped with culinary history. With a legacy of fine cooking in New York, we now have it on Martha’s Vineyard. This is definitely on our dining out list for a visit!
WE LOVE MV: MV Masquerade Outdoor Dining And Shopping – Enjoy Thru September 6th
As I walked by places, I couldn’t help but be a little envious of people dining outdoors. How I wish I was noshing on truffle fries and sipping on a Hop Goddess at Offshore or some tacos from Dilly’s. Luckily, I can come back another Sunday and so can you!
Dining out and shopping is sure different this year, but island shops and restaurants are doing their best to keep people safe, and help you enjoy great Vineyard options. Summer is in full swing! It’s a summer of new experiences, finding new favorites — enjoying the Vineyard unscripted. Reimagined. We Love MV is our ongoing series capturing the new spirit of summer.
