Did you know that you can get fresh, affordable Island grown veggies and more from Island Grown Initiative’s Mobile Market with pick-up in various locations?

WE LOVE MV: WHAT IS THE ISLAND GROWN MOBILE MARKET?

“The mobile market is a truck stocked with affordable, locally grown fruits and vegetables. The Market stops in six island neighborhoods with residents who have expressed that they have limited access to fresh, locally grown food. The mission of the market is to expand healthy food access for all in our community, with a focus on islanders who participate in food assistance programs. We purchase local produce and eggs at wholesale prices from local growers and sell with a small mark up to cover operating expenses—this is not a for-profit venture”.

It’s a great way to support our local farmers and have fresh veggies. I live in Oak Bluffs. So I place an order online, and then pick up my pre-paid, bagged order at the Oak Bluffs Library between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. pick up time is for pre-orders only.

The whole process is very easy, and I felt like I got a lot of great local food for under $20. I especially enjoy that the eggs are only $5.50! Simply click here to order today!

Island Grown’s Mobile Market is in operation from July thru February. It’s open to everyone, and each week is different. It depends on what is available from the Farm Hub at Thimble Farm and other farms.

It’s great that so many Island farms are able to offer people the chance to enjoy such delicious, fresh foods. Masks and all, you can still see their smiles. Summer is in full swing! It’s a summer of new experiences, finding new favorites — enjoying the Vineyard unscripted. Reimagined. We Love MV is our ongoing series capturing the new spirit of summer.

We hope you are staying safe during these times. Please don’t forget to “Like” Point B Realty on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter, Linked In, Pinterest, Youtube and Instagram.
