First Fridays are back in Vineyard Haven. On the first Friday of every month you may stroll, shop, eat, visit our art galleries and hear music downtown. I’ll see you there.
In the flurry of these past two weeks, many of our Island children have moved on. The high school graduated its senior class. Our townie Eric Reubens was a most impressive valedictorian. Thank you, students, for getting through a very tough year. I daresay you can handle anything now.
On Wednesday our eighth graders at the Tisbury School were treated to a luncheon at the Edgartown Yacht Club. Onward to high school and more adventures.
Our library is holding meetings on the plans for renovating the Tisbury School as well as for expanding the library. New books and new programs are also on the menu. Check it out.
With so much good news, there had to be a glitch. Ransomware struck our Steamship Authority last week. The computers are down. The hope is this will be rectified soon. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with technology.
What great news to have the VTA reinstate our 10A bus service around West Chop. As I am not driving right now this will be a very handy way for me to attend First Fridays.
I miss my dear friend Richard Lee. A wonderful exhibition of his art work is at Martha’s Vineyard Museum now. You will enjoy his reverse painting art.
WMVY Radio has left town. Don’t worry. They moved to a new and larger building on State Road in West Tisbury near the up-Island Cronig’s Market. The staff has worked so hard on this. I wish them success at their new location.
The birthday bandwagon had a busy day on June 8. Four of my favorite people shared the same date: Wendy Fitting, Miles Gross, David Alan Friedman and Ida Bailey. They all take the cake. Many happy returns.
