Many people have heard of Iggy’s Bakery if you’re from Boston or the surrounding area. There is an Iggy’s in Cambridge that has a big following and their breads can be found in many places around the area.
Last year, Igor Ivanovic, founder of Iggy’s, came to Martha’s Vineyard. Of course was smitten with the island, and he happened to come across a vacant 11 South Summer Street storefront which he knew would be the perfect home for an Iggy’s pop-up.
Iggy’s Bread Of The World Edgartown Pop-Up On Martha’s Vineyard – What You’ll Find
Each morning at 6:00 a.m., the boat is loaded with baked goods from Iggy’s Bakery in Cambridge and brought to Edgartown. The bakery then opens at 10:00 a.m. and they are immediately met with customers loading up with their delicious baked goods.
I stopped by with my co-worker Judy Rogers and she just loved the place. There was a bread roll ring next to the counter. She knew just what to do. She got a loaf of sourdough and ordered one of the rolls. When she lived in San Francisco many years ago, she would order a roll from something like this, and then eat it on the way to work. It was great fun for her to be able to relive that tradition today in Edgartown. Added bonus, I got a piece of the roll and it was scrumptious!
Since I had not had breakfast, it was an almond croissant for me and a couple for my office mates, and of course a couple of bagels for tomorrow morning. They look too good to pass up.
I have to admit that the croissant was absolutely amazing – butter did not miss this light, airy pastry creation. In addition to pastries, they have pizza crusts, sticky buns, and so many bread options.
When you walk in to Iggy’s you feel a little “zen” like. I am not sure if it’s all the beautiful bread, the flowers, the music from the vintage record player or just the happiness of everyone in there but the space just feels good. It is a feast for your eyes and soon your mouths! It is hard to not order a baguette and just tear into it!
Iggy’s breads and baked goods are known to be made with the highest quality of ingredients, and of course local ingredients when possible. The current plan is to be open through September and till then, I recommend stopping by whenever possible.
Iggy’s Edgartown Pop-Up is open Tuesday thru Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Go early for the best selection and enjoy!
