Create a kite honoring an influential “changemaker” at the MassArt Art Museum’s Juneteenth celebration.
Honoring influential Black leaders and flying kites go hand-in-hand at this Art on the Plaza event hosted by the MassArt Art Museum.
The first 200 participants to register online will receive a kite making kit and will be tasked with creating “a kite that honors a changemaker making a difference in the world today” and flying the kite “high for all to see,” according to the event site.
Attendees can honor people like Elizabeth “Mumbet” Freeman, the first enslaved African American to file and win a freedom suit in Massachusetts, the event site said.
“The Plaza will come to life with outdoor activities and music for our neighbors in Fenway, Mission Hill, Roxbury, and beyond,” reads the event site. “All are welcome!”
Attendees are also invited to enjoy drop-in activities in the Barkan Family Big Ideas Studio and check out the museum’s current exhibits.
