The Larder has been a Vineyard Haven fixture for a number of years now. This quaint farmhouse-style building has seen some changes over the past year, including new owners and a renovation. You may be quite impressed by the new Larder.
The front porch is even more inviting. Here you will find fresh flowers and veggies. It’s a lovely spot to sit for a minute or two. I actually enjoyed my lunch here on the porch, and watched as folks went in and out.
The New Larder Market + Provisions On Martha’s Vineyard – Food To Go
The backbone of The Larder’s takeout food is their “minimal waste philosophy.” The butcher, yes the Island has a local butcher, Tyler Potter from Swimming Pig (best sausage on-Island), focuses on using the animal nose to tail for the food here. The Larder is also focused on using responsibly sustained items for food preparation and small purveyors for provisions they do not make. It’s truly a “shop small, shop local” market.
You will find a selection of salads, sides, and sandwiches to enjoy for lunch (or later). There are also takeaway meals, heat and eat, available for lunch or for dinner later. Friday’s are BBQ takeout dinners and Sundays are Fried Chicken to-go dinners (these always sell out, pre-order early).
The current lunch menu for The Larder has some great classic options with their own twist. I was stuck between the Swimming Pig BLT or the Cuban. The Cuban sandwich is one of my all-time favorites, so I went with that and I was extremely happy. Melt in your mouth pork, great bread, housemade pickles – nothing but deliciousness, so much flavor. I would get this again!

Where to begin . . . from cheese to local meat to spreads to sauces to local roasted coffee, truffle oil options, veggies, and so much more. The Larder is a feast for foodies! The items you find here are inspiring, and at the same time make you think how you could whip together the easiest, most delicious charcuterie ever from just walking into this well-curated market.
There are so many things to discover here. You have to come back again and again to try new things, and experience the different options available. I can’t wait to see the fall bounty they stock the shelves with.
