After a number of years, The Beach Plum Inn Restaurant’s lights are on! Or should I say that the patio is open for epic sunsets once again! This restaurant offers stunning water views with a peaceful, up-Island pastoral setting, and now some of the most delicious food offered this season.
The Beach Plum Inn Restaurant – Up-Island Respite
Island Chef Jenny DeVivo is the the kitchen for three fabulous nights of dining under the Menemsha sky, Friday – Sunday, with delicious, simple, well crafted, prix fixe ($65.00) menus. Friday is Burger Night, Saturday is Taco Night, and Sunday is Jamaican Jerk Spice night.
My friend and I went on a Saturday night. Tacos are always a yes in my book. We made a reservation, which we will always recommend if possible, and enjoyed one of the most lovely meals of the Summer.
We had a corner table, perfect for enjoying the views. Sitting next to each other, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and three memorable courses. Sometimes the sky was so beautiful we just sat in amazement. It feels so special here, so far removed from the hustle, bustle of the season.
In addition the the beauty of Menemsha and the water, the property is just so lovely. You can play corn hole, ping-pong and don’t forget to take a ride on the swing. It feels good to let go a little and just live in the moment here.
The Beach Plum Inn Restaurant – Meet Chef Jenny DeVivo
You may know Chef Jenny DeVivo from her role as the Executive Chef and Food Service Director at the West Tisbury School. There, she transformed the way lunch was prepared for the students. She used farm fresh ingredients, introduced children to real food, made Meals That Matter and really showed the world that kids can eat good food at school. You may also know her from the Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race Season 12, when her food truck team, The Lunch Ladies, made it to the finals. In addition to all these great things, Jenny is an all around great person, who enjoys making really good food.
The Beach Plum Inn Restaurant – Dining
On to the food at The Beach Plum. It was a Saturday Night so we were getting tacos! Course one, I got the Local Lobster Ceviche and my friend got the Butternut Squash Queso with chips. Both delicious but the Lobster Ceviche was just so good! I would eat it daily!
In between courses, you can visit the lemonade and iced tea station for refreshments. Don’t forget, Menemsha is a DRY TOWN. If you would like adult beverage, it is BYOB and there is a $15 corkage fee.
Course two, the tacos! You get three of each that you choose, I wish you could mix and match, but such is life. I got the Local Fish of the Day Tacos, Black Sea Bass, purchased that day down at the markets in Menemsha. Literally boat to table! The other tacos where the Chipotle Chicken. Both were served with shaved cabbage, pico, queso and more. The Local Fish Tacos were beyond delicious. These were so flavorful. I highly recommend them. The chicken tacos were very good too but the fish tacos were….just so yummy.
Just when you thought you were full, there is dessert. We both had the Cinnamon Sugar Churro Bites with Salted Caramel Sauce. These were incredible as well. However I was so full, I had to save the rest for the next day (which my children really appreciated).
In addition to the three nights of dinner options, The Beach Plum offers breakfast to the public, Thursday – Sunday. Dinner is a wonderful experience at The Beach Plum but breakfast is as well. I was able to experience it a while back. It is just as lovely to sit on the patio, overlooking the sparkling water, watching the Osprey fly by while enjoy your coffee and the first meal of the day.
The Beach Plum offers a memorable meal – both in ambiance and with the food itself. Definitely consider adding it to your Summer dining plans! Click here for reservations. The Beach Plum Inn Restaurant will be open into the Fall.
Additional Information: Chef Jenny DeVivo will be taking her ability to change lunch rooms in schools across the country as a consultant.
