The fundraising side of the MV Teddy Bear Suite jumped off to a great start on Giving Tuesday. We are grateful and humbled by the generosity of our clients, customers, colleagues, family, and friends. With a donation match from Point B, our one-day Giving Tuesday total was $16,600+
The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser Kick-Off Supporting Food Security Programs For The Island
In the first 11 years of the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser, we have raised more than $318,000 to support the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club after-school programs. We’ve learned as many others have, that food security remains a very serious issue here on the Island, and the Club has been an innovator in creating solutions and running programs that actually make a difference. We’ve seen the results.
We became the founding sponsor of the Healthy Happy Kids program, which has evolved into the vital core food security program that now serves on average 240 prepared meals and snacks every day — about 1,200 meals and snacks every week. In the last year, the Club has provided more than 50,000 prepared meals and snacks to members and their families.
Our goal this year is $50,000 to keep that core food security program going and growing. DONATE NOW
The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser Kick-Off Name The New Big Bear Returns
After a two-year hiatus, one of the most popular Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite traditions has returned to the annual holiday event — we have a new Big Bear and she/he needs a name! This will be our 10th Big Bear to join the Teddy Bear Suite family. To date, the Big Bear names have been: Lucy, Tashmoo, Nemsha, Quinn, Lambert, Obie, Tisbeary, Chappy, and Edgar. You may notice a decidedly Vineyard theme here.
So far, some of this year’s names are Norton, Noman, Squibby, Sengy, and Moshup to name a few. We’ll get the list and you can vote. If you’re on-Island, you can see the new 7-foot Big Bear at our office in Nevin Square at 19 Winter Street, Edgartown. Drop on in. The new name will be unveiled on Thursday, December 8th!
The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser Kick-Off Christmas In Edgartown Weekend
We are debuting and launching the all-new outdoor Teddy Bear Suite experience during the Christmas In Edgartown weekend. This new version of the popular MV Teddy Bear Suite will be spread across the courtyard in Nevin Square (behind Point B and Sea Spa Salon). There will be classic Teddy Bear vignettes presented in completely new ways. We’re keeping the actual details under wraps until the Friday launch. It will not disappoint!
We are also debuting our new Teddy Bear Suite Photo Studio at our Rental + Experience Store at 29 Winter Street. It will be festively decorated with dozens of bears, made for all those cuddly bear pictures that have been so popular with families and friends over the years. Bring your iPhone.
Both the outdoor Teddy Bear Suite and the Photo Studio have a suggested donation of $5/person. All the money raised goes to support the Food Security programs at the MV Boys & Girls Club.
