‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through the shelter not a creature was stirring because Dee Dee and Alice are mousers. The kitties had hung all their stocking on cages in hopes their adopters would soon be there.
New cat Ceecee was sleeping all snug in her bed while visions of a forever home danced in her head.
We’d love to give this story a happy ending but that depends on you. These girls could use some holiday angels. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all.
As for adoptions, we’re thrilled to report that foxhound mix Ellie has found a home for the holidays. Here’s to a wonderful life.
The pet of the week is Ceecee, a four-year old, long-haired orange girl. She’s very sweet and affectionate, likes to be brushed, can be vocal at times, but needs to be an only cat. She’s the perfect companion for those long winter nights.
We have two other cats hoping for homes for the holidays. Alice is a petite, two-year old tabby who believes she’s in charge. She can be very affectionate, loves people, and gets along with dogs but not cats. She would do best with an experienced cat owner who understands feline quirks since she can easily get over-stimulated. Also in need of a home is Dee Dee, a two-year old, indoor/outdoor calico who loves being outdoors. Dee Dee is on the shy side and would like a patient owner. We feel that once she feels secure, she will blossom into a sweet, affectionate companion.
Looking for a gift for the person/people who have everything? Please consider making a donation to the shelter in their name(s). It’s the perfect gift for any occasion.
We’d also like to remind everyone that hunting season continues through the end of the year. Remember to wear bright colors when walking in the woods, and keep your dogs leashed. And please stay out of wooded areas around dawn and dusk.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
