Law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s help in identifying the body of a fetus or newborn infant that was found at a mainland recycling facility Thursday and may have some connection to Martha’s Vineyard.
In a press statement Friday, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office said the baby’s mother may have lived on the Island, had ties to the Vineyard, or recently traveled here.
The remains of the child were found at a recycling facility in Rochester, Massachusetts.
Further information on the case was not immediately released Friday.
Members of the public that may have information that could assist investigators are asked to contact state police trooper Dustin Shaw at 508-790-5799.
