A combative patient that was brought to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Friday assaulted multiple people and caused minor property damage, according to police and hospital officials.
Oak Bluffs police said a person brought by family members to the hospital for a mental health crisis assaulted staff and a civilian and broke hospital property.
Police declined to say more about the incident because it involved a patient.
The hospital confirmed the incident in a statement to the Gazette.
“We are grateful no one was injured and extend our gratitude to our security team and staff for their swift response and professionalism,” said spokesperson George Brennan. “However, due to patient privacy laws, we are unable to provide further details at this time.”
