YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — At around 10:15 p.m. last evening — not long after Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl — police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Union Street and Starbuck Lane for a report of a single-vehicle crash into a tree. Upon arrival, responders observed that the roadway was iced over near the scene and immediately requested a sanding truck. Further investigation revealed a nearby water main break spilling water onto Union Street. The break caused slick road conditions believed to have led the SUV to leave the roadway and crash onto a snowbank. The SUV does not appear to have struck the tree, based on the above HN photos. The driver was evaluated by a Yarmouth Fire Department ambulance crew but did not require transport to the hospital. The Yarmouth Water Department was notified about the water main break.
Meanwhile, just 15 minutes earlier in Sandwich, another single-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Snake Pond Road and Crossfield Road. The incident brought down wires, causing a power outage in the area. The driver was not seriously injured, according to radio transmissions. The Sandwich Police Department is investigating the cause of the that crash…
