Tisbury is 350 years young this year, and to celebrate, the town is taking its popular First Fridays series to the next level. First Fridays have continued to grow over the last couple of years, and just wait until you hear what these monthly events will feature this year!
Before we continue, what is First Friday in Tisbury? First Fridays are outdoor events in Vineyard Haven with music, art, food, local artists, and more, each first Friday of the Summer months.
The Vineyard Haven Cultural District has partnered with the Vineyard Haven Business Association to create dynamic, interactive, creative, First Fridays, pulling out all the stops for things to experience — it’s literally the old Vineyard Haven Street Fair every month but better.
Tisbury Celebrates 350 Year Anniversary With Memorable First Fridays On Martha’s Vineyard — Food Trucks
Yes all you food truck fans, there will be food trucks at the First Friday! Sample delicious food from El Gato Grande Taco Truck, Goldie’s Rotisserie (coming soon), and Yommi Pops and maybe more. I definitely enjoy El Gato tacos, but I have to admit I am really excited to try Goldie’s, especially the Schmaltzy Potatoes which are fingerling potatoes roasted with chicken drippings, crunchy sea salt — yummmmmm.
In addition to the food trucks, you can also enjoy all the fabulous restaurants downtown as well like La Soffitta, Copper Wok, Salvatore’s, Mikado, Bobby B’s, and more.
Tisbury Celebrates 350 Year Anniversary With Memorable First Fridays On Martha’s Vineyard – Live Music
Live music is back in a big way, especially for First Friday. On Main Street from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. you will find live music to enjoy while shopping both retail shops and artist vendors.
There will be music at various places throughout the night. There will even be music on a barge! Yes, this year, bands will perform on a barge. I know how cool is that? One of the event’s organizers, Andy Herr, was able to secure a barge for music from the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard. What a music scene it is going to be!

To add to the experience, the Tisbury Fireman’s Association is going to host a community bonfire at Owen Park. I can only imagine how the bonfire will be with the live music and harbor in the background. A festive community event for all! What an experience First Fridays will be!
