The movie horror get-together happens in Danvers on the weekend of Aug. 26-28.
The spooky spirit of Halloween – including the holiday, the long-running movie franchise, and every imaginable kind of horror film – will be celebrated a little early this year, when the inaugural edition of Silver Scream Con checks in to the Double Tree by Hilton in Danvers from Aug. 26-28.
Hardcore horror movie devotees and casual fans alike will have plenty of events and items to choose from and browse through at the weekend convention, such as merchandise booths, a flea market, a costume contest, and a series of discussion panels hosted by pop culture writer-producer-interviewer Ryan J. Downey (MTV News, CryptTV, founder of Superhero Artist Management).
But the biggest draw, as is the case with most gatherings of this sort, is the roster of personal appearances by horror movie veterans for meet-and-greets, autograph sessions, and photo ops.
Among those scheduled to attend are: Nick Castle (The Shape AKA Michael Myers in the 1978 “Halloween”), James Jude Courtney (Michael Myers in “Halloween 2018,” “Halloween Kills,” and the upcoming “Halloween Ends”), Ari Lehman (Jason in the 1980 “Friday the 13th”), and Kane Hodder (Jason in “Friday the 13th Part VII” and “Part VIII,” “Jason Goes to Hell,” and “Jason X”).
Other attendees, well known to horror movie aficionados, will be Ricky Dean Logan, Danielle Harris, Skeet Ulrich, Bill Moseley, Felissa Rose, and Andrew Bryniarski.
Convention hours are: Friday, 5-10 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticketing is slightly complicated, but can be broken down like this: Tickets allow access to all vendors and events for each day. (The Ice Nine Kills concert is already sold out.) Ticket prices are: Friday, $30; Saturday, $40; Sunday, $30; weekend pass, $70; kids 6-12, $15, good for all three days; kids 5 and under, free.
Note: Autographs and photos are not included in admission fees; charges for those are determined by the celebrities. Times of specific programs are still being arranged, and will soon be available at www.silverscreamcon.com.
