The Martha’s Vineyard Commission gave its unanimous assent this week to Jim Eddy of Big Sky Tents for a new, 27,000-square foot building on a three-acre lot at the airport business park.
“This is the place for big metal buildings,” commissioner Christine Brown said during deliberations Thursday night.
Once the new structure is in place, Big Sky will vacate two other locations it currently leases at the business park, according to Mr. Eddy’s application.
Commissioners conditioned their approval on a final lighting plan for the new facility, which will consolidate Big Sky’s party rental operations.
But they left final landscaping approval to the airport business park, which has its own regulations in place.
The next commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for April 6, but the MVC is also holding a meeting March 22 to discuss the commission’s preservation policy with developers, property owners and other interested parties.
The meeting begins at 4 p.m. at the MVC offices on New York avenue in Oak Bluffs, with remote participation available via Zoom.
