The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Kicks Off Its 10th Year

Now in its 10th year, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite looks a bit different this year, but one thing you will notice is that this very special Island is doing what it can to make the season magical. And we’re doing our part too – This is a story that makes for a wonderful HOLIDAY addition to our We Love MV series – We Love MV: The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Kicks Off Its 10th Year With New Events

WE LOVE MV: Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Kicks Off Its 10th Year Supporting MV Boys & Girls Club 

This is the 10th Annual Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, and in the first nine years, with your help, our annual holiday fundraising event has raised $216,000 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

With these monies, we have, and hope to continue to fund the Club’s Healthy Happy Kids, H2K. This vital program provides nutritious food for hundreds of elementary-school-aged kids who attend the Club’s After School Program.

Though there are not as many children in the After School Program so far this year, due to the pandemic, the need has never been greater. These children receive safe, prepackaged snacks and meals that are much more expensive than in the past, when the food was prepared by staff and Club members. This cost and the knowledge that there will be more children soon, continues to drive the need to fund H2K, and the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite helps make this program possible.

With it being our 10th year, you can bet that we had BIG plans for this year. However, like so many other organizations, we’ve had to pivot and create something the keeps the magic and fundraising alive with something that is also fun, safe, and outdoors.

This year, we have partnered with the Edgartown Board of Trade and over 30 businesses in the Village for an all new Teddies Around Town. The Christmas in Edgartown Elf on the Shelf is now Teddies Around Town, a fun outdoor, safe and meaningful scavenger hunt with a cause – to support the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

Elves will be Bears this year, and they will go from hiding on the shelves to hiding in storefront windows, since we have capacity and safety to consider. Wait until you see just how fun it is to find the bears with the riddles, and how beary cool the prize at the end is!

How Teddies Around Town Works:

• The scavenger hunt begins at the Point B office at 19 Winter Street in Edgartown, where kids can pick up their riddles and stamp.
• There is a suggested donation of $5.00 per participant, which goes to Point B’s annual fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.
• Riddles will take kids around Edgartown, from window to window, seeking bears of all shapes and sizes.
• Kids will stamp their own riddle sheets when bears are found to keep it 2020 friendly.
• The hunt ends back at Point B, where each participant gets a special fuzzy prize!

• Saturday, November 28th & Sunday, November 29th, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Saturday, December 5th & Sunday, December 6th, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Saturday, December 12th & Sunday, December 13th, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
