Paula Bishop-Slack died on May 21. She was 62.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1959 in Boston to Jack and Patricia Bishop. She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1976 and attended Quincy College, where she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. During her 30-year career, she cared for patients across the lifespan and finished with her greatest passion: treating infants in the NICU at South Shore Hospital. She was a passionate person who loved caring for others.

Aside from nursing, her greatest role was being a mother to her three children, and eventually being Nana to her six grandchildren.

Paula spent her last years residing on Martha’s Vineyard. She loved the Island, living close to the ocean and exploring all of what it had to offer.

She is survived by her son Steve and his fiancee Amy, her daughter Sarah and son in law Mike and her daughter Emily and fiance Ricky; her grandchildren Cam, Noah, Drew, Keirra, Finn and Kylee Rose; her loving ex-husband Steve; sisters Laura Faxon and Jacquie Viera, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her loving sister Donna Nelson and grandmother Lucy Roche.

A funeral mass was held on May 28 at Holy Family Church in Rockland, followed by interment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington.

Arrangements are under the care of the Sullivan Funeral Home in Rockland.
